Let’s talk about the importance of nurturing your email list through an email welcome and newbie series as well as 7 ways to do so. I really think there is a lot of great information in this series and hope that you like it!
The first message you send to your subscribers sets the tone for your relationship with them. Make sure you show them that you appreciate and value them.
You want to begin by creating a welcome email with your audience’s needs in mind. 90% of your subscribers will open your welcome email so, in that email, tell them why being a member of your email list and reading your emails will help them.
Your welcome email is the best chance you will have at gaining and strengthening trust in the new relationship you are building with your subscribers.
7 ways to nurture your list through your welcome email and newbie series.
- Congratulate and thank them! Congratulate them on taking the first step to learning more and beginning to make meaningful changes. Thank them for allowing you to be included in that part of their journey.
- Deliver your download incentive. Provide the link to the promised download/freebie towards the top of your email. New subscribers don’t want to have to read a lot in order to “get to the goods”. Also, you can include the link again at the end of your email. You can put a “P.S.” and say something like “Don’t forget to get your freebie here” and include the link again.
- Set expectations. Mention the benefits of being a part of your group. Include information on how often they will receive emails from you, what the emails will contain, etc.
- Be authentic. Let your personality shine! When you hide your personality, you may be hiding something that would attract more people to you.
- Provide clear directions. Tell them how to accomplish the things you want them to do.
- Promote your social networks! Tell your subscribers where they can find you!
- Make your email contact simple! Don’t hide your contact information in your email. You WANT people to hit reply! Why not ask them to share (insert what you want to find out here) with you. You can ask specific questions for them to reply to.
While your welcome email is very important, so are the emails to your “Newbie Email Series” which continues giving valuable information while building a relationship and trust factor.
Remember, you want to start a conversation with your followers. Ask questions so they reply to you creating a dialogue rather than a monologue.
