It’s a new month and that means a new theme here at The Virtual Assistant Advantage.  This month I’m very excited about the new theme of Virtual Assistant Niches.  As a virtual assistant, I believe it is important to choose a niche or area of specialization to focus on that will set you apart from others.

Because I am a virtual assistant that specializes in authors, speakers, and coaches and there are numerous other niches or areas of specialization I have decided to bring some guests on the podcast to cover these different niches.  Today’s guests are our first for this series and we have with us the founders of the Podcast VA Association and the Podcast VA certification program, fellow podcasters, Jenn Uren and Kelly VanHoveIn.

podcast virtual assistantJenn is the voice behind the This Mom Knows Podcast. 6-months into her podcasting journey she decided to hire a Virtual Assistant and was surprised how challenging it was to find administrative support skilled to support the podcasting world. After discovering that her own experience of searching for a Virtual Assistant was not unique to her but an all-too-common frustration among fellow podcasters, she decided to do something about it.  Together with co-founder Kelly VanHoveln, Jenn started the Podcast VA Association. With over 20 years’ experience in creating systems and streamlining processes, she is known for making administrative work efficient and effective.  Mom to five (3 bio and 2 through a surprise adoption) from 1st grade through college grad, she and her family live in Northwest Indiana where they are discovering the joy of small-town living.

Podcast virtual assistantWith her own podcast, The Social-Savvy Introvert, nearly falling victim to podfade in its first 6 months of existence, Kelly VanHoveln knows how real the struggle is when your show turns out to be a whole lot more work than you expected! As the co-founder and CMO of Podcast VA Association, she gets the word out to virtual assistants about how critical they are to the success of each and every podcast. She has 14 years’ experience in digital marketing and social media management, and she’s passionate about helping introverted entrepreneurs navigate the online world without feeling like they have to shout to be heard. She lives on an introvert’s paradise – a 6-acre wooded lot in the-middle-of-nowhere, Iowa – with her husband, 3 kids, and an assortment of furry & feathered friends.

In this episode we cover the following:

Jenn and Kelly share with us exactly what the Podcast VA Association is and how it was birthed.  They then share the skills that are necessary to become a podcast virtual assistant, what exactly a podcast virtual assistant does, and finally how the Podcast VA Certification program can help you become a podcast virtual assistant.

From the other angle, if you are a podcaster who is looking for a virtual assistant to help you with your podcast then the Podcast VA Association can help you!! They have a directory of virtual assistants who are trained and certified in podcasting.  You can find out more about that here.
