Today we are going to be talking about why WordPress. And I’m going to give you seven reasons why I believe you should choose WordPress as your website platform to use to build your website. There are tons of options out there. But since 2007, I have been using WordPress for all my website needs. And I couldn’t be happier with it. And I have seven reasons to share with you why that is the case. So let’s get started.

#Reason #1 – It is open-source software. So that means basically that it is free software. And they are completely free to use.  There are two different options, you can use WordPress.com, which means that you will host the site on their platform. Or you can use WordPress.org, which is self-hosted and you have more control over your site and can take advantage of advanced plugins. wordpress.com is good for beginners, but it’s not exactly the best for a business that plans to make money. So I would recommend downloading WordPress and uploading it to a self-hosted website. And basically, that means you get hosting. There are tons of hosting companies available.  I personally use and recommend MomWebs.com.

But obviously, free is not always good. In this case, it is best to use the free WordPress software and then spend the money on the hosting so that you can own the content that you put onto your site. So that is why I recommend that is number one reason why I recommend WordPress.

Reason #2 – It is SEO-friendly. Let’s just go back to the basics just in case you don’t know what the letters SEO stands for. They stand for search engine optimization. And if you’re going to want to be found on Google or when someone is searching for whatever it is that you are offering, you will want to make sure that your website is search engine optimized. Luckily, the thing about WordPress that is super helpful is that SEO is common for them. And they are SEO-friendly. And they don’t make it difficult to build SEO into your post on your site. If you use the Yoast SEO plugin, a must-have that is easy, super easy to use. It helps you to target the keywords that you know that people are searching to find your site. So I highly recommend the Yoast plugin and it is free.

Reason #3 –  It has options. So many fun and amazing options from the plugins that are available to the themes to changing up your fonts and colors and all of those things. WordPress makes all of those things super easy to manage and do.

Reason #4 – You own it.  Unlike if you put a website on someone else’s platform like Wix, or Squarespace or blogger, you know, old school Blogger and things like that, you don’t own the content that you put there. When you use WordPress.org. On your own domain, you own the content. And WordPress is the only of these, the only one of these software or platforms that will allow you to export your content from their site and have it for your own use outside the platform. And you have full control over your site, it comes with so many different options and functions that you get full control over, whereas others don’t do that to the same extent.

Reason #5 – WordPress is easy to learn, and to use.  I’ve had other people say that is well, I was doing some research for this podcast episode. And that was one of the things that they said that it’s easy to learn. And even if it’s difficult for you there is a huge WordPress community. All of the different themes that WordPress has, there are people that have developed those themes. And they will help you with those things. You can contact our help desk. WordPress has its own community where you can go in and ask questions on forums and things like that. There are tons of online courses, seminars, webinars, books, you name it about WordPress, and there’s the more official you know, customer support.

Reason #5 – It adapts.  Many people think in the beginning when they look at WordPress that it’s just for a blog. But that is not the case, you can actually use it for a full-blown website. It’s not just for blogging, even though maybe that’s how it was first known. But it is not just for blogging, it adapts so that you can make any type of website, anything from a blog to a business website to a portfolio to an e-commerce site to a membership site.

Reason #7 – It is scalable. And you have full control over your website. You can scale out using other themes and plugins and make it easy for you to construct a site. But those elements are also essential for scaling. That is why I love WordPress is the many options and availability that it gives you to make what you’re looking for, come to life in for your business, for your ministry for whatever it is that you’re doing. And I just love working with it.

So all during the month of May, I will be speaking about on here on the podcast, on social media, or in my training.
