In this week’s episode, we continue our series on email marketing by talking about Why a Virtual Assistant Should Use Email Marketing.
Today, we will answer the question, “Why a Virtual Assistant Should Use Email Marketing.”
Even if you’re a Virtual Assistant the aspects of owning a business still apply to you. In a podcast of mine about Starting a VA Business, I go over one of the important things to do is to treat your business like a business and not just like a hobby. To be a VA is to be a business owner. One of the aspects of owning a business is having an email list.
There are 3 other reasons why a virtual assistant should use email marketing.
1. To Have a List of Potential Clients Waiting in The Wings
The first reason is that you have a list of potential clients waiting in the wings. No matter how good you are as a VA there will always be times when people will not be able to continue being your client. Therefore, you will need to be able to replace those clients, so you can keep a steady income stream. So, you need to be building a list of people you can communicate with on a regular basis that you can go to at the times you need to fill a spot in your client list. Having this list of people you can communicate with on a regular basis will help you achieve this.
2. Use this List to Establish Yourself as an Expert
You use this list to establish yourself as an expert, so people know that you know what you are talking about and can provide what they need. They’ll know what your specialization is and if you can do email marketing, work on Pinterest, or help with a podcast for example. So, share your expertise with these people on your list to go ahead and give them a glimpse into how you can help them. And therefore, when the time comes that they’re looking for help, they will be more likely to reach out to you. You do can do this by writing blog posts, recording quick tip videos or tutorials, sharing short video snippets, or even starting a podcast. There are a lot of ways to do this, but having an email list helps to build up your credibility and show the knowledge you have to that audience.
3. To Help You Learn What Your Clients Need
Lastly, it will help you learn what your clients need. Having an email list should not be a one-way street. You want to open up the lines of communication between you and the people on your list. You can ask them questions and get to know them. The more you ask questions the more likely they will be to respond because they will get used to the fact you’re asking questions. So you can get to know what they are needing help with, struggling with, and what their pain points are. You can kind of swoop in and provide the services they are needing the most help with.
If you are regularly communicating with your clients, you are able to see what their needs are and are able to let them know you are capable of helping them with those needs. This way you are able to increase your workload with your existing clients instead of finding new clients, but you can do both, and using your email list can help you do that.
A VA needs to be involved with email marketing and have an email list, so you have a list of potential clients waiting in the wings, establish yourself as an expert, and learn what your client’s needs are.
Helpful Tip
I have an accountability partner who is also a VA. We hold each other accountable and talk throughout the week. One thing we were talking about this past week was one of the best ways to increase your income as a VA is to be aware of what your clients need and be able to expand or do more for your current clients. This can be much easier than having to find new clients.
